Hi, I’m Charlene — the heart behind Charlene Westerlund Photography.

I’ve loved creating and capturing images for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a child growing up in Singapore, I was always drawn to creativity and storytelling through photos. In my early 20s, life brought me to Baltimore, Maryland, where I explored different areas of photography, from branding work to food photography.

After having my first child, I took a step back from photography to focus on being a mom because lets face it, learning to be a mom for the first time is hard work…90% of the time I was trying to decide between my gut and advice from people and the internet. Now, 3 kids later, I can safely say it does get better even as the chaos grows. Those years as a stay-at-home mom completely changed the way I value images especially with kids since they grow so quickly! Motherhood seriously taught me just how quickly life moves. The tiny hands, the unique and sometimes weird laughs from each child, the ridiculous messes and the quiet in-between moments all go by so quickly!

Over time, I realized how much I missed capturing portraits and connecting with people. I love hearing stories, learning about families and relationships, and documenting the love that exists in every season of life. That’s what inspired me to create this business — a space where I can combine my passion for photography with my love for preserving authentic moments for others.

My style is warm, natural and light-filled, with a mix of gentle guidance and candid connection. I want your session to feel relaxed, natural, and fun so your photos reflect not just how life looked, but how it felt.
